Lawyer is a general word, it describes anyone who studied Law school, diffrent countries have diffrent terminology, see below

barrister and solicitors, A barrister is a lawyer who specializes in higher court appearances. A solicitor is a lawyer who is trained to prepare cases and give advice on legal subjects and can represent people in lower courts.

  • New Zealand. Barrister: a lawyer that frequents Court, or a Court lawyer
  • Australia, the word "lawyer" can be used to refer to both barristers and solicitors
  • United States, the term generally refers to attorneys
